BIO

Emerging from the rain-soaked streets of Vancouver, Ophelia Falling is symphonic metal at its finest. With powerful vocals over a dense arrangement of power metal accompanied by orchestra and choir, Ophelia Falling is the next chapter in Canadian metal.

The genesis of Ophelia Falling was in 2013 when guitarist Mark Anthony Richardson (Diesel Candy, The Lumps, Drive by Poets) approached a number of Vancouver musicians interested in forming a symphonic metal project. By 2015, Richardson was joined by powerhouse singer Chelsea Rose of Victoria’s 5minutewait, and with Richardson and Rose as a song-writing team the majority of their material was written, including fan-favourite “Savage Love”, and the formidable “Anybody’s Daughter”. With the addition of James Meyer (Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend Project), and their explosive debut on March 31, 2018, at a fundraiser for the Metalocalypstick Festival, Ophelia Falling were unmistakably the buzz of the Vancouver music scene. Just two weeks later they performed at the venerated Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver for the Hyperspace Metal Festival.

By the summer of 2018, Sylvain Maltais (Omega Crom, Anarcheon) joined the band on bass, and the next few years saw Ophelia Falling rocket further ahead. Following their debut EP release, Savage Love, in March 2019, film maker Karen Lam requested to have “Anybody’s Daughter” on the soundtrack to her upcoming feature film “The Curse of Willow Song” (released September 2020), and directed a music video for the song (released March 13, 2020). “Anybody’s Daughter” is also featured in indie film-maker Kevin Schultz’s film, “Guiltless”. Ophelia Falling was selected to play at the BC Finals of the Wacken Battle Canada (2019), and was invited to Calgary to perform at the Decimate 2.0 Metal Festival (2019). Drummer Chris Pallot (Carousel Scene) took over the drum position in August of 2020.

On October 2, 2020, the single “Tangled” was released as a teaser for their debut album, Destroyed in Delight (released October 30, 2020). This 8-track album also features the song “Save Me”, which was chosen for game play by Hipsterbait, an online game to discover new music. Selected tracks from the album are being played on college radio across Canada and internet radio around the world. Throughout 2020 videos for the songs “Witigo” and “Savage Love” were released, with filming and production completed for upcoming video releases. The band is currently writing new material and preparing for a return to touring.
